Embedded ANPR System
DIS-ANPR-V8

Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) uses optical character recognition on images to read the vehicle license plates. Most of the current ANPR solution includes many components such as cameras, lighting, software, mounting hardware etc.. Therefore it is never easy to install a cost-effective ANPR solution.
DIS-ANPR-V8 automatically recognize, capture and store vehicle license plate numbers. Such vehicle information may be transfer to local or remote data center for management or enforcement traffic violators. DIS-ANPR-V8 has optional alarm input and output, to sound a siren or electronic strobe light .With simple optional integration it is also able to operate a car park barrier.
DIS-ANPR-V8 is a newly designed ANPR with proven technology and reliability, flexibility in installation or even to be used as a mobile ANPR unit! DISA is suitable for installation on toll gate platform to capture and record all vehicles passing through. Collecting information such as:
- Traffic Flow Information
- Red-light Violation
- Speeding Violation
- Black-list Spot Check
- Accident Detection
Functions
| License Plate Recognition and Captures |
DIS-ANPR-V8 applied optical character recognition technology to read and capture each vehicle license plate and convert into text form in the database. Basically it reads all alphanumeric characters from numbers, 0-9 and from alphabet A-Z. Other languages on the license plate needs some customization before accurately read and captures. Software also has self-learning and training abilities for auto error correction until a correct reading is accepted.. |
| Alarm Reporting |
Optional software allows auto alarm for vehicles against traffic laws and orders. For example for vehicle over the legal speed limit, license plate number together with video and car speed will be auto uploaded to the control center via network for issue traffic ticket to the offender. |
Trigger Methods
DIS-ANPR-V8 needs to know when to capture the vehicle license plate. A trigger determines the exact point of focus for the DIS-ANPR-V8 to capture the vehicle license plate. There are several ways of triggering the captures; however we recommend trigger by induction loop or video motion. The following table shows the various trigger methods and it’s advantages and disadvantages. Table showing various trigger methods for DIS-ANPR-V8:
| Trigger Method |
Description |
Advantage |
Disadvantage |
Induction Loop Detector |
A length of electrical wire buried just under the asphalt, when the huge mass of the metal body of car passes by alters the electromagnetic field around the loop |
Accurate trigger method, clearly differentiate a moving vehicle, a stationery vehicle or a human |
Needs extra labor to bury the electrical wire under the asphalt |
| Active IR Beam |
Block beam by the vehicle body |
Effective trigger, easy to install |
Cannot differentiate between a vehicle or a human. Suitable only for single lane pass through |
Ultra Sound Detector |
Use ultra sound reflection from car body mass |
Simple and easy installation |
Easy interference Efficiency much less than loop detector and Active IR beam |
Video Motion Detection |
Software detection of vehicle |
Low cost |
More false alarm |
